EASTER, one of the vibier bands I recorded back in Berlin for Converse Rubber Tracks summer before last. They’ve held onto this for quite a while and are now releasing one of the songs I engineered and mixed for the band. Check out the video below:

The kid said, “Get ready cause this ain’t funny
My name’s Mike D. and I’m about to get money.”
Pulled out the jammy aimed it at the sky
He yelled, “Stick ’em up!” and let two fly
Hands went up and people hit the floor
He wasted two kids that ran for the door
“I’m Mike D. and I get respect
Your cash and your jewelry is what I expect”
One lone Beastie I Be… Well check this one off the bucket list. Mike D came in as the ‘hero’ producer for Winnipeg hiphop group “The Lytics” Rubber Tracks sessions last week and I was in the engineer’s chair. Mike and I worked on the tracks and he helped produce the group performances. We mixed and mastered two songs with them as they head out to Europe for a tour.
I probably wouldn’t be doing what I am doing if it wasn’t for the Beastie Boys, so this was incredibly special for me to get to work with a hero of mine for two days.

One of the recent bands that came through Rubber Tracks was Los Tiros from Argentina. We had such a fun time in the studio and managed to get two songs completely worked up, recorded and mixed. Hopefully they’ll be out soon, but in the meantime check out their interview with Brightest Young Things
Three cheers for Hector Castillo and Porter on their “Alternative Album of the Year” nomination for this years Latin Grammy awards. I had the fortunate honor of mastering this kickass record. Hope there’s some hardware coming home to Hector and the band this year!

Check it out now…
Hector Castillo and Didi Gutman make up the duo Masa, and they released a new video for the infectious and dark track “Teki-Tek” below. I mastered this along with the rest of their recent album. Check it out below:
